Don Juan Mexican Kitchen & Bar

Stopped here for lunch after getting off the train, and so glad we did! Great ambiance and the food was delicious! Kid taco plate comes with Spanish rice and black beans, amazing asada nachos, and grilled fish tacos. Chips and homemade salsa Verde were yummy while we waited for our meals.

Awesome best kept secret as we've never had a problem getting seated. it's right next to train in heart of downtown San Juan, great authentic Mexican food, great service, and great drinks--love the Chard Pineapple margarita! Oh, and reasonable pricing for a change!! Definitely will be back and highly recommend!!

today i went to don juan’s and the minute i walked in with my family i had amazing service, servers were very attentive, ambiance is great and drinks are amazing! would definitely come back again love the people and food, personal favorite is the half chicken with mole & the tinga flautas & the tomato soup. food overall was cooked to perfection and served/garnished beautifully !!

Diana and Carlos the chef were amazing!!! We had a minor problem with one of our dishes but they immediately fixed it. The chef, Carlos, came out personally to apologize and was very friendly. Atmosphere and service 10/10.

Nice bar steps from the train station. In fact, you can see your train arrive from the bar !! Good selection of beers. I had the Ireland IPA, which was really good, nice after-taste. Good service well deck tables in a nice couch seating area outside. Definite Mexican vibe. Not cheap but good stuff

8/4/2024 Stopped in this evening to Don Juan in SJC for some tequilla and tacos. We were surprised that the restaurant was empty as the food and service is quite good. Alex was our server and was terrific. The ambiance was peaceful and positive with some very good Spanish music in the background. We both started with margaritas for our first round with the chicken taquitos appetizer. Chips are fresh and the salsa tasty. We then ordered another round of drinks but this time we both had Don Julio Blanco with pelligrino and three limes muddled with mint. Alex mixed the drinks perfectly. We both decided to order the taco entrees and my wife had the grilled Mahi Mahi Tacos with rice and beans and I had one Mahi Mahi Tacos with one short rib taco with rice and beans. The food was good and I give 4 stars simply due to a few issues that need attention relative to maintenace and detail. Recommended. Previous visit What a great find. Don Juan Mexican Kitchen in SJC. We stopped in for drinks and an early dinner, and it was fantastic. Not your typical Mexican restaurant. They also serve sushi. The chefs are quite talented. Our server was Jonathan, and he was stellar. Jonathan was professional, attentive, and can make a mean cocktail. We started with our favorite Don Julio Blanco with pelligrino, three limes muddled, and mint, and they were fantastic. You can't just have one. We also started with guacamole and chips with salsa. My wife ordered the fish tacos and also wanted to try the crunchy rolls, which she took most of it home for tomorrow. I had the chicken fajitas, which were excellent. After dinner, I had coffee with tequila, and my wife had another drink. We also tried the flan. We also met Juan the GM as my wife recognized him, and he recognized us from another restaurant we visited. He was quite professional and friendly as well, and we also know his uncle, who is another class act. They have taco Tuesdays and entertainment. We will certainly be back. Great food, service, and people.
